It was in early 2003 when, Joby Linsangan-Moreno, then a medical thechnologist, found herself in the middle of a decision that would change her life. "I was supposed to push through with medicine proper when I had a change of heart," she says."My sister was already a doctor then and seeing her busy schedule and night shifts at the hospital convinced me that it was not the life I wanted." Having read on how to put up a business, Moreno took the risk and left the medical field and found herself on a totally different path. "The answer came quickly as I love going to salons to be pampered. I was determined to franchise a known salon so it would be easier for me during the start-up phase."

However, her P30,000 in savings wasn't enough to buy a salon franchise, so she set out to create her own. A friend happened to know of a certain salon that was about to close down and was selling it, including all the equipment for just P15,000. "It was the best offer," says Moreno. using the remaining P15,000 for renovations, the first Orange Blush Salon opened October 2003 in Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija. fast-forward seven years later, this provincial franchise has grown to 11 branches, four of which are franchises.

"The day I opened in 2003, I decided that I would make this small salon prosper, put up many branches, and franchise it nationwide. We chose Francorp as our franchising firm to help set the business up for franchising in 2007." After finishing the operations manual and franchise agreement in 2008, Orange Blush salon began franchising in 2009.

The success of a new and provincial franchise like Orange Blush is nothing short of inspiring. However, for Moreno, "I simply wanted to put up these 'community salons' that are small, affordable, and provide quality servics to the people within the community." And being a provincial brand, she says, has its advantages. "It makes us different from other salons in the country, and we would like to think taht there's something in our brand and our services that made people trust us which eventually gave us the opportunity to expand in Metro Manila."

In an industry dominated by bigger salon chains, Moreno has found her own niche with her affordable yet quality salon franchise. "We can operate in as small as 15 to 30 sq m space with three to four people in the staff," she says.

Her plans, however, aren't as small. "In the next five to 10 years, I hope to make Orange Blush salon a household name. We continuously innovate, train people, and research about the latest in the industry t give the best services to our clients."
